Manasbal Tour

About the Tour

Nestled in the Jhelum valley along the path leading to Wular Lake through Safapur, this lake is accessible from Srinagar either via Shadipur or through Nasim and Gandarbal. Its tranquil, transparent expanse of green water derives its name from the revered Mansarowar Lake, which borders the equally hallowed Mt. Kailash.

Day 1

Manasbal Lake

During summer, Manasbal Lake, with an average depth of 12 meters, becomes adorned with blooming lotus flowers. In winter, it transforms into a haven for bird watchers, boasting one of Kashmir's largest populations of aquatic birds. Baladar Mountain looms over the lake's eastern shore, while the northern bank holds the remnants of Darogabagh.

Day 2

Mughal Garden

Adjacent to the lake stands a Mughal garden, attributed to Nur Jahan, named Garoka, which translates to "bay window" owing to its picturesque vista overlooking the lake.

Day 3

Safapur

In the neighboring village of Safapur, a cluster of majestic Chinar trees known as Badshah Boni, or royal Chinar, replicates Srinagar's Nasim Bagh. Safapur benefits from a canal diverted from the Sindh River, engineered by a 15th-century monarch. A mystic's cave, alongside his shrine and grave, adds to the mystique of the area, complemented by a nearby tourist hut.

Day 4

A Campsite

Camping enthusiasts can find solace in Qoz Bagh, another Chinar grove by the lakeside. Additionally, a government rest house offers accommodation by the tranquil waters of the lake.
